When you look at all the causes of human suffering, conflict is one of the few that is preventable. The costs run into the billions or trillions.

International Crisis Group is a $20 million-a-year organization. It's a small amount of money in comparison. What is that worth in terms of conflict prevention?

Without peace, what's the point? You need peace first. Once you have peace, you can start addressing some of the other problems in the world.
